From Canvas to Road: The Birth of an Exceptional Art Car #AuraGT3
When art meets automotive excellence – Porsche GT3 by Augustin Sagehomme & La Cylindrerie
This extraordinary project began with a simple conversation over drinks between enthusiasts. The idea? Transform a Porsche GT3 into a one-of-a-kind work of art. Over 200 hours of dedication later, that dream has become reality.
A Meeting of Passions
Multi-talented artist Augustin Sagehomme thrives on exploring different creative universes and merging his passions. For him, collaborations are not just projects—they are opportunities to forge memorable encounters and bring ambitious ideas to life.
One evening, during an informal discussion, Grégoire Bauchau, co-founder of La Cylindrerie Luxury Car Storage, proposed a challenge: customize a Porsche 911 hood. The concept immediately resonated with Augustin. Within weeks, the first hood was painted with a riot of colors and today, it proudly stands in the contemporary, minimalist hall of La Cylindrerie.

From Miniature to Life-Size Dreams

That first collaboration naturally led to further opportunities. Following a meeting with a member of BEL (Brussels Expertise Labels), who is also involved with D’Ieteren, Augustin was invited to showcase D’Ieteren Luxury Performance—Belgium’s hub for luxury automotive retail, representing brands like Porsche, Lamborghini, Bugatti, Rimac, Bentley, and Maserati.
From this partnership came a 1:12 scale Porsche 911 miniature, entirely hand-painted and displayed in the prestigious Autoworld Brussels, during an exclusive evening with luxury brands, artists, journalists, collectors, and entrepreneurs. The miniature captivated everyone—and sparked the inevitable question: “When will the life-size version appear?”

The Dream Takes Shape
For Augustin, creating a full-scale Art Car with his signature style on a legendary vehicle was a dream come true. Slowly, the project took shape. Raoul Bauchau, co-founder of La Cylindrerie and passionate car enthusiast, was immediately drawn to Augustin’s previous works. Together, they brainstormed, exchanged ideas, and created mood boards—envisioning the perfect, dynamic canvas for the Porsche GT3. The discussions were as vibrant as the colors soon to cover the car.
Behind the Scenes: Technical Challenges and Finding the Right Expertise
Crafting an Art Car on a luxury vehicle requires more than creativity—it demands technical mastery. Every color, every transition, every detail must be flawless. To achieve this, Augustin and Raoul partnered with Graficko, experts in vehicle wrapping and precision finishes.
Initial experiments, such as painting acrylic directly on pre-applied vinyl, proved too risky: tests for heat resistance, varnish, and cracking revealed the technique was not durable enough. The team pivoted: the artwork would be created on a full-scale canvas, photographed in ultra-high definition, and then printed onto the car.
The Giant Canvas
Reproducing the car in flat layout meant a 6 × 4 meter canvas, the largest Augustin had ever painted. His studio being too small, an inspiring space was set up at La Cylindrerie. The artist adapted his techniques while preserving his signature style—splashes, color explosions, and dynamic gestures—dividing the canvas into four sections of over 2 × 3 meters to access every corner.

160 Photos for a Perfect Digital Reconstruction

Capturing the artwork digitally was a major challenge. To preserve all details, a professional photographer used a 45MP camera to shoot 160 images at 300 DPI. Automatic stitching software couldn’t achieve the precision required, so the images were assembled manually, in a meticulous, almost artisanal process, ensuring a faithful reproduction of Augustin’s creation.

Mock-Ups and Final Installation
Once the artwork was digitized, Augustin prepared mock-ups incorporating the latest design refinements. These were shared with Graficko's chief graphist to finalize the printing file, setting the stage for the ultimate step: transferring the artwork onto the Porsche GT3.

Why "Aura GT3"? #AuraGT3
The name Aura GT3 carries a double meaning. On one hand, it reflects the luminous energy of the artwork itself: a vibrant gradient flowing from deep blue to blazing orange, like a moving spectrum that radiates beyond the car’s bodywork. An aura is that subtle, poetic glow that surrounds and captivates—exactly what this Art Car is meant to embody.
On the other hand, Aura is also a contraction of AUgustin Sagehomme and RAoul Bauchau, the two enthusiasts who sparked this daring project. A shared signature, symbolizing both their friendship and their vision: transforming a Porsche GT3 into a one-of-a-kind rolling work of art.

Giving a name to an Art Car is more than a detail—it’s about giving it an identity, almost a personality. Just like a painting carries its title or an iconic car becomes legendary, the name creates a story and forges an emotional connection. Aura GT3 is not just a Porsche transformed into a rolling canvas; it’s a living creation, recognizable and unique, embodying both the energy of its colors and the vision of its creators.
The Grand Reveal
From casual conversations to over 200 hours of dedicated work, this Art Car embodies the meeting of contemporary art and exceptional automotive craftsmanship. It is a testament to passion, creativity, and collaboration—ready to astonish every onlooker.
